10/10 Fashion Show by NKY features international brands
Kindness is always fashionable — so the saying goes — and on Dec. 6, kindness will combine with fashion in a literal sense at the 10/10 Fashion Show by NKY.
Proceeds from the event, which will likely be one of Grand Cayman’s largest fashion events ever, will benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Cayman Islands.
“10/10 is a fashion show for a great cause,” says Nicola de Lima, founder and CEO of Cayman Fashion Group, owner of NKY in Camana Bay. “In the spirit of the holidays, I couldn’t think of a better must-attend event that truly reaches back to help our community. Notwithstanding it will be the best fashion show of the year!”
Executives and stylists from four of the leading global fashion houses will attend the event to reveal never-before-seen looks from their Spring 2019 collections in a show that will take place along the Paseo in Camana Bay.
The event will be headlined by global fashion brand BCBGMAXAZRIA; New York-based men’s luxury brand Robert Graham; women’s designer Hale Bob; and California lifestyle brand Trina Turk. The evening will also feature a roster of local celebrities, a raffle and silent auction, cocktails and live entertainment.
“Global trendsetting brands BCBGMAXAZRIA, Robert Graham, Trina Turk and Hale Bob continue to hail as leaders in the fashion industry,” de Lima says. “Given the popularity of all of these brands in Cayman, it only made sense to bring them down to exclusively present their Spring 2019 collections on the runway.”
The Cayman Fashion Group has presented fashion shows before, but de Lima says every one is unique. The 10/10 fashion show will be special, she says.
“For the first time, I have four Spring 2019 Collections presented by the designers’ own team for the show,” she says. “Given this is NKY’s 10th anniversary, I wanted the very best in the fashion industry with me to share with my clientele.”
Alongside the event’s high fashion, attendees will also be able to look forward to musicians, vocalists, dancers and Veuve Clicquot Champagne, all set amid Camana Bay’s magical holiday setting under the stars.
After the show, the public will be able to pre-order items from the event at trunk shows that will take place the following two days. The trunk shows will be held at NKY stores and stylists from all four brands will be present to help shoppers, offering a wonderful opportunity to be dressed by the best of the best in fashion just in time for Christmas.
Building a fashion empire
The event celebrates NKY’s and Cayman Fashion Group’s 10 years at Camana Bay. NKY, which was one of the first retail shops to open in the Town Centre, celebrated its 10-year anniversary on the Paseo earlier this year and NKY Collections will mark its decade in Camana Bay next month. Other Cayman Fashion Group shops, SOLES Shoe Salon, POLO by NKY and The Jean Bar have opened in Camana Bay since then, and Fifth on Seven offers men’s and women’s resort wear at its Caribbean Plaza shop.
Fuelled by de Lima’s keen eye for fashion and attention to detail, NKY has become a popular name with Grand Cayman’s fashionistas due to its wide offering of high-quality apparel by some of the world’s most sought-after designers.
“NKY started with one location in Cayman,” she says.” With its current six locations, Cayman Fashion Group is the largest fashion retailer in the Cayman Islands, representing over 200 men’s and women’s designer brands. We started with ready-to-wear day looks for men and women and have evolved to cover the full fashion spectrum that includes formal business, active, swim, resort wear, footwear, handbags, accessories, cocktail, travel, intimates as well as cashmere coats for the traveller.”
Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Cayman Islands is a charitable organisation that provides children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported, one-on-one relationships that can change their lives for the better. De Lima says she chose to support that organisation with the fundraising charity event because not everyone is aware of it.
“My hopes are that this event will build the awareness of the importance of BBBS in our community,” she says. The world is changing at a very rapid pace and we all need to come together as a community, more now than ever before. All of our sponsors have very generously contributed towards the success of this event and without their involvement, this event would not be possible.”
The event takes place on the Camana Bay Paseo near NKY and starts at 5 p.m. Tickets are CI$85 in advance and CI$100 at the gate. Tickets include a glass of Veuve Clicquot Champagne and hors d’oeuvres and are available from NKY Collections and Abacus in Camana Bay, as well as Fifth on Seven, Caribbean Plaza.
